Driftwood Show and Glass Ball Round-Up in Grayland, WA

Last weekend I went to Grayland's 51st annual Driftwood Show and Glass Ball Round-Up. Talk about a fun time. It is held in the Grayland community hall.

Beachcombers bring their driftwood to show off and some win prizes.
You can also take part in a glass ball round-up. Wooden tokens are strewn along the beach in Grayland. Each token represents a glass ball made by Patrick Kolten of Artglass/Verre de mer. When you find a token on the beach you bring it in to the driftwood show  along with the "license" you purchased earlier that morning  and "passport" filled with stamps from the local businesses you visited. You then get your blown glass float along with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Here are the beautiful glass floats waiting for their finders.

First Beach La Push

Yesterday (3/29/13) we went to First Beach at La Push, WA.  It was a gorgeous evening with lots of bright sunshine for a while. Then the fog set in just before the sunset. It was a sunset into the fog. It is amazing how fast that fog can roll in...
What a bright sunny view.

Had to climb over logs

I just love how the sunlight is filtered through all this budding brush.

Just love the green light reflection off the wet rock on this one

Looking down the beach or is it up the beach?

Here comes the fog and there goes the sun.

Big red buoy on the beach

Into the fog bank sinks the sun.

After the sun sunk behind the fog bank the sky took on a pearly iridescent pink.

In only a minute James Island disappeared into the fog.

Thanks for visiting.

Short Beach Walk - Clallam Bay

The beach between Clallam Bay and Sekiu - looking towards Sekiu
Today I went on a short beach walk at Clallam Bay. I had to try out the zoom on my new Fuji HS30 camera and zoomed in across the Strait of Juan de Fuca over to BC Canada. I didn't find much by the way of sea glass, but it was nice just to get some fresh air.
Hello Canada!
