More Wire Wrapped Sea Glass,

Last weekend I bought some new wire. It is antique brass color. I really like the way it looks with sea glass. I think some of my creations using this wire may appeal to the steampunk population. I am really excited to make some more pieces using this color of wire.

All the sea glass I use in my creations is authentic sea glass hand picked by me off the beach.

It is matt, has irregularities in the surface and the edges are smoothed from years of tumbling in the surf. 

I predict that authentic sea glass will become even more rare due to the fact that use of plastics has become the norm.

Bling Basket

I just finished a "bling basket"

When I am selling my wire wrapped sea glass jewelry at an event, I can't help notice how kids are attracted to my colorful creations. Every so often, a youth will come up to me with a couple of dollars in her hand and really want to buy something.  It makes me kind of feel bad that they can't afford it. Well, now I've come up with the solution. I made a bling basket. This where I have some "affordable" beach-n-bling for the youngest generation.

Anklets and Charm

Yesterday a friend of mine told me about jewelry women are wearing around their boots. 
Well, boot season is almost over, I hope. I did make a couple of boot anklets calling them boot bling, however, they are not made of wire wrapped sea glass.  I made a couple of anklets and ideas started flowing way faster than my hands can produce.

To me, this turned out to be a "Rube Goldberg" of a sea glass charm.  I decided to fasten two frames together that didn't exactly work out for earrings so I could have a bale at each end.  It started out as a bracelet idea and then became an anklet, since people don't usually get that close of a look at your ankle. 

I will keep it for me to wear when its shorts, skirt, and sandals weather.  It's a kind of prototype. 

I wish I could take a picture of my own ankle wearing it.






Now for some boot bling or boot anklets.

Charming Charms

I made a few charms a couple days ago.  I call the wrap style "suspended sea glass" because it looks like the sea  glass is suspended in the wire framework.

Driftwood Show and Glass Ball Round-Up in Grayland, WA

Last weekend I went to Grayland's 51st annual Driftwood Show and Glass Ball Round-Up. Talk about a fun time. It is held in the Grayland community hall.

Beachcombers bring their driftwood to show off and some win prizes. 
You can also take part in a glass ball round-up. Wooden tokens are strewn along the beach in Grayland. Each token represents a glass ball made by Patrick Kolten of Artglass/Verre de mer. When you find a token on the beach you bring it in to the driftwood show  along with the "license" you purchased earlier that morning  and "passport" filled with stamps from the local businesses you visited. You then get your blown glass float along with a Certificate of Authenticity.
